The IntelliMan Project demo meeting took place at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), hosted by Maximo A. Roa and Ashok Meenakshi Sundaram. We presented the results achieved throughout the project to the Project Officer and Reviewers, with a focus on the final demonstrators developed across the different use cases.

We still treat forearm intent sensing as an EMG problem. This paper suggests that, in some cases, we may be looking in the wrong place. “Simultaneous Recognition of Hand Gestures, Grasping Force, and Hand Aperture Using a Wearable Displacement Myography System” goes after a practical gap: reading gesture, force, and aperture together, within the same grasp.

Vagus nerve stimulation still has a problem that everyone in the field knows. Selectivity is rarely where the promise is. That is why I found “From In-Silico Optimized Microfabrication to Experimental Validation: Engineering a Tridimensional Epi-Intraneural Interface”, published in Advanced Functional Materials, worth reading. The paper goes after a very practical bottleneck. Cuff electrodes are easier to implant, but spatial selectivity is limited. Intraneural electrodes can do more, but the price is invasiveness and surgical complexity.

Yesterday, the IntelliMan Project demo meeting took place at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), hosted by Maximo A. Roa and Ashok Meenakshi Sundaram. We presented the results achieved throughout the project to the Project Officer and Reviewers, highlighting key research outcomes. In particular, we demonstrated the dual-arm autonomous system for wire harness assembly, a use case provided by ELVEZ. The development of the use case was carried out by our group at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna and the Department of Engineering – University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”.
