IntelliMan Workshop at the ERF2024 conference

On March 14th2024, IntelliMan had a very successful workshop on “Efficient and Portable Robot Learning for Real-World Settings” at the ERF 2024 conference in Rimini, organized by Riccardo Zanella, Roberto Meattini, Ashok Sundaram, and Nestor Garcia.

This workshop delved into some critical research questions driving the future of AI-powered robotic manipulation systems, featuring esteemed invited speakers:

🎤 Sylvain Calinon Senior Research Scientist at the Idiap Research Institute and Lecturer at EPFL
🎤 Georgia Chalvatzaki Full Professor for Interactive Robot Perception & Learning at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
🎤 Dr. Freek Stulp

Head of the Department of Cognitive Robotics at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics, DLR.

🎤 Dr. SiQi Zhou Senior Scientist at the Learning Systems and Robotics Lab, TU Munich.
🎤 Lukas Brunke PhD candidate at the University of Toronto and researcher at the Learning Systems and Robotics Lab, TU Munich.

Topics discussed were:

  • Leveraging robotic priors, scene structure, and demonstrations for accelerated learning.
  • Integrating control theory into the learning framework for system theoretic properties.
  • Efficiently acquiring skills for purposeful and high-performance robotic manipulation.
  • Ensuring safety during physical exploration of unknown environments.

We thank the speakers, insight session contributors, and attendees for a great discussion on various research/industrial challenges and solutions to achieve efficient and portable robot learning.
