Exploring Prosthetic Hand Control: IntelliMan Experiments at UNIBO

In December, an experimental campaign was conducted at the Laboratory of Automation and Robotics (LAR) at the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna as part of IntelliMan!

The study focused on advancing control algorithms for Human-Robot Interfaces, specifically in the context of Prosthetic Hands and Robotic Manipulation. Participants used surface electromyography (sEMG) signals to control a virtual prosthetic hand within an immersive virtual reality environment. The research evaluated the performance of various interfaces and algorithms while exploring psychological factors like intentional binding and the sense of agency.

This collaborative effort brought together Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna (UNIBO), ETH Zürich, INAIL, Istituto Nazionale Assicurazione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro, and FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. We’re excited to see what’s next!“
