We’re gearing up for a major milestone at ELVEZ! From September 4th to 6th, 2024, ELVEZ, UNIBO, and UCLV will join forces for an IntelliMan Implementation Week. During this intensive session, we will implement the IntelliMan connector assembly procedure—a critical step in advancing our AI-enhanced robotic system to Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6). This marks a significant leap forward in bringing cutting-edge automation to the automotive wiring harness industry.
Module Architecture for Intermediate Validation:
Throughout the implementation week, our focus will be on the Module Architecture for Intermediate Validation used in our key use case. This architecture integrates both hardware and software components to achieve precise manipulation and insertion of wires into connectors.
The software architecture for the IntelliMan project is built on Ubuntu 20.04 and leverages ROS Noetic as its middleware, enabling efficient communication between various system components. Key software modules include Sensor Data Acquisition, which processes raw sensor data to compute unbiased voltages; Contact Indicator, which analyzes force interactions using tactile sensors; Wire Shape Estimation, which determines the shape of wires for accurate handling; and Object Axial Angle Estimation, which uses camera data to ensure correct wire orientation. Additional modules for Trajectory Generation, Velocity and Position Control, and Human Force Measurement ensure precise and reliable execution of the wiring harness assembly process.
This robust integration of hardware and software is designed to tackle the challenges of wiring harness assembly with unprecedented accuracy and efficiency.
